Biography
ALÉAS is the meeting of these three prolific musicians who have distinguished themselves in jazz, classical and pop. They come to us with a brand new project with folk-country flavors that navigate through catchy melodies inspired by the land and the sea.
The collective “Aléas” was born during a stay with friends at the chalet and was founded by singer Andrée-Anne Bélisle, pianist Emie Rioux-Roussel and violinist Steeve St-Pierre. It was in 2015 that Emie and Andrée-Anne met during various events on the Quebec music scene. The two musicians whose family roots are anchored in Bas-Saint-Laurent quickly developed a musical bond. Five years later, they discover to their surprise that they are in fact little cousins. Violinist Steeve St-Pierre has collaborated with Emie and his jazz trio since 2010 as sound engineer and co-producer. He was also sound engineer for the album “Good Good” by Andrée-Anne’s group, Heïka. With his classical training to which is added a background in traditional music, it was completely natural that one day or another the three musicians would want to set up a project of their own and which could take advantage of their different, but completely complementary, backgrounds.
